Welcome Message
The welcome message is the first thing participants see when they join your interview. It sets expectations about the format, duration, and topic. The AI generates a default welcome message based on your brief, but you can fully customize it.
A good welcome message should:
- Briefly explain what the interview is about
- Set expectations for duration
- Reassure participants about privacy
- Create a warm, inviting tone
Persona Presets
Persona presets control the AI interviewer's communication style — how it asks questions, responds to answers, and transitions between topics. Choose a preset that matches your research context:
Warm & Empathetic
Friendly, encouraging tone. Great for sensitive topics like churn interviews or user frustration.
Professional
Polished, business-like. Suited for B2B research, executive interviews, or formal contexts.
Casual
Relaxed, conversational. Works well for consumer research, younger audiences, or creative feedback.
Academic
Structured, methodical. Best for rigorous research, medical studies, or technical evaluations.
Playful & Energetic
Upbeat, enthusiastic tone. Ideal for creative brainstorming, youth audiences, or fun, informal feedback sessions.
Neutral & Objective
Balanced, impartial. Best when you want to minimize interviewer bias or conduct sensitive comparative research.
You can also provide custom persona instructions to fine-tune the behavior beyond the preset — for example, telling the AI to "always acknowledge the participant's answer before moving on" or "avoid jargon."
Voice Selection
For voice and video interviews, you choose which voice the AI uses to speak. Fyreside offers two options:
Preset Voices
A curated library of professional voices in various styles, accents, and genders. Available on all plans. You can preview each voice before selecting.
Custom Voice Clones
Clone a specific voice by uploading audio samples. The AI creates a synthetic version that sounds like the original speaker. Available on Growth and Business plans.
How Voice Cloning Works
To create a custom voice clone:
- Upload 1-3 audio samples of the voice you want to clone (clear speech, minimal background noise)
- The system processes the samples and creates a voice model using ElevenLabs
- Preview the cloned voice to check quality
- Select the cloned voice for your study
